About us

We are a married couple traveling together and sharing a passion for festivals, arts, cultural stuff, photography & nature's wonders. We've explored big part of Europe already (see map below) and we are now planning our first RTW trip starting in July 2012.

We have no idea when the travel bug bit us, but we believe it's safe to assume it was pretty early in life. On our first date we discovered we were both already having long bucket lists of destinations to visit and before we knew it, we were planing trips all over the world together.

When we first moved in together we decided it won't be in our hometown, but rather in an exotic place. Therefore during a few good years in our early twenties we lived anyone's dream vacation in a remote and zen land. We lived among stylish white houses and beautiful palm trees, renting a beachfront apartment. From our balcony we could witness the sun being born out of the sea every morning, and we greatly enjoyed our lazy days. Not everything was an eye candy, and we greatly missed the cultural part of life we were so used to, but we loved the sea performing its dramatic dance every time a storm was coming, which wasn't very often. The region had a restaurant and an Irish pub for almost every resident and less than 15 rainy days a year. It was the perfect setting for a brainless life and it looked like this:

After a two month intensive, extensive and exhausting marathon of Europe, a honeymoon and a few other shorter trips, we grabbed our earthly possessions and moved up north, to a more cultural location; well it wasn't too much up north, nor far from the sea either, but we both loved it & still do to this day.

We are city people; always been; always will. We love arts, refined pleasures and UNESCO sites. We would never ever eat anything that still kicks, not even the tiniest of ants. We are not adventurers. We might never bungee jump nor sky dive, and we will never climb Mount Everest just because it’s there. But we will always walk an extra mile to see an old castle hidden in a deep forest or an ancient ruin. This is our cup of tea!

Thanks for visiting us!

"If I were a piece of architecture I would like to be Gaudi’s Casa Batlló, because it’s sensual and twisted. If I were a painting I would rather be one of Ingres’s perfect silk dresses. I love classical music and jazz and Allan Jackson is my hero and Edith Piaf my heroine. I think French is the sexiest language on Earth, and if I could travel back in time I would go to the Paris of the 1920’s and get myself drunk on champagne in Montparnasse in one of those literary cafés that silly law of fin de siècle that prohibited private gatherings made so popular.

I believe there is a right time and a right place for everything; that nobody can jump over his own shadow. I strongly believe that we all have the right to happiness and that happiness is the natural state of the mind. I believe in humanity. I believe in love. I believe in freedom of speech. I don't like to gamble, but I believe little miracles do happen. I don't believe in faith but I believe in the placebo effect." Laura

Dear Laura,

Nice new page!

I like your text. Usually I don't read such long articles on the web but yours is just so fluent that I kept reading on and on ;-)

A picture would be nice of you in orange...

Cheers,
Walter

Nice story and nicely written. I didn't realise you were based in Spain as well. We're newbies here, just passing the five month mark...

What a lovely, lyrical post! I share your lack of interest in eating anything that is still moving. :-)

Cheers from another Laura

Nice post. I envy you for living in Spain near the water. Now I also understand your SU handle.

What an inviting self-portrait! You seem so curious and full of life. Costa Blanca looks amazing. I wouldn't mind spending a few brainless decades there.

Lovely writing, Laura. You sound like you enjpy your life and find challenges in your pursuits. Nothing sadder than a boring life, in the sun or not.

You did not mention what country you hail from originally, and I'm a little curious ;)

Laura, great about page. You offer more information than most. Life can be a dream but requires passion which you have. Good luck :)

"Between exams I travel, blog and wonder at every bit of information I stumble upon and if anything inspires me, I share it with you." That's the best part of the internet - we can see parts of the world we'd never experience otherwise.

Hello Laura.

I really love the Travelocafe website, thanks for the great travel news. I live in Gansbaai South Africa, better known as the great white shark capital of the world. I am also in travel and was wondering if you accept guest posts from other travel bloggers? If you do, please send me an email with your guidelines & recommendations. Hope to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
Robert
